Don't get caught in a fire here

Body found in Schenectady debris

SCHENECTADY - The body of a missing man was found around 11:30AM Friday while demolition crews were taking down a building at 902 McClellan Street, police said. The building was heavily damaged by fire earlier on December 10.

It's not immediately clear if the person was a victim of the fire, now labeled as "suspicious."

It was undiscovered in the three-story building but neighbors confirm to NewsChannel 13 that a man living on the top floor has not been seen since the fire.

The demolition crew discovered the body of a white male, police said. As a result of the fire the City of Schenectady determined the structure to be unsafe.

Fire crews on scene that night determined the building to be structurally unsound and pulled the fire fighters from the building and continued to work to contain the fire. The body was discovered on the third floor of the structure where the majority of the damage occurred from the fire. The identity of the victim is still unknown.

So please, if I should go missing after my house has burned to the ground, please have someone come look for my body because apparently the city of Schenectady can not put two and two together.  20 days...it took them 20 days to find the body.  It's a corner with two major pharmacies, a gas station, a bank  and a grocery store and still they couldn't figure out that maybe they should look inside the burned building for the man that lived there.  God help us!
